Obtaining an electronic copy of the Charter from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities

Legal Digest News
The President of the Russian Federation has signed a law allowing companies to obtain electronic copies of their constituent documents from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities for free.

Starting from August 4, 2023, companies will have the opportunity to request a copy of the charter document of their legal entity of interest from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities free of charge. To obtain the document, it is necessary to prepare a corresponding request with mandatory details such as:

  • data on the organization for which the information is requested (name, Principal State Registration Number or Taxpayer Identification Number);
  • information about the applicant company (name, Principal State Registration Number or Taxpayer Identification Number);
  • the way of receiving the document.

The request can be sent through the personal account on the website of the Federal Tax Service or via the Government Services portal.

Please note that companies will not be charged for obtaining a copy of their Charter in electronic form. A company is required to pay a fee of 200 rubles for providing a paper copy of the document. If the service is urgent, the fee is 400 rubles.

Before the amendments, there was a fee for obtaining an electronic copy of the Charter. A company could order an extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities with information on the director's right to act on behalf of the legal entity without a power of attorney, information about participants (founders) of the legal entity, Taxpayer Identification Number, etc., free of charge.

The new procedure will allow companies to reduce paper document flow and costs for persons requesting such documents. If you need to conclude a deal with a potential counterparty and check relevant information about them, please contact Acsour experts.
