New fines for breaching migration legislation

New fines for breaching migration legislation

LEGAL DIGEST \ 19.02.2019

With a new fine being introduced, which can amount to RUB 500,000, Russian migration legislation is becoming more stringent. This started in January.

Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs should now monitor their invited foreign employees more scrupulously. Starting from 16 January 2019, employers are held liable for:

  • an employee complying with the timeframes and purposes of his/her entry to Russia;
  • an employee timely leaving Russia.

If an employee violates the timeframes or the rules for his/her stay in Russia, the company that invited him/her will be fined from RUB 400,000 to RUB 500,000 and its CEO will be fined from RUB 45,000 to RUB 50,000.
