LEGAL DIGEST, NEWS \ 21.12.2021

Today, 2% of the world’s population is homeless, and another 20% do not have a home that meets all the conditions and is suitable for life. The problem has long become complex and has reached terrific scales.

According to studies, the main causes of homelessness are unemployment, low income, domestic violence, mental illnesses and destruction of homes by natural disasters. And alcohol and drug use are often the consequences of this phenomenon, and not the reason, as is commonly believed.

Nochlezhka is a charitable organization that appeared in St. Petersburg in 1990. Employees and volunteers help homeless people with documents and registration of allowances, feed, warm them up, try to get them in residential institutions and find relatives, dispute illegal real estate transactions and defend the rights of people in difficult life situations.

Every year Nochlezhka holds a New Year’s action “Mandarin and tinned meat” to collect gifts for homeless people. These are completely ordinary, practical gifts that acquire special value before the New Year – everyone wants to feel a little warmth and care on a holiday that has been loved since childhood.

Acsour employees collected and handed over tinned meat, chocolate sweets, as well as warm scarves, gloves and mittens for persons under wardship of Nochlezhka. All products and things will be packed in gift sets, and then volunteers will give them to homeless people in the Night bus parking lots, warming posts and in the Nochlezhka consulting service.

The action will last until December 26 and every resident of St. Petersburg and Moscow can take part in it. Sharing warmth with people who have lost their homes is not difficult at all. You can follow the reports on collecting gifts and information about missing things and products in Nochlezhka’s social networks.
