The increased interest of the Federal Tax Service for dual citizenship of Russians

2024-01-10 11:59 Legal Digest News
The Federal Tax Service began to#nbsp;request additional information from Russians with dual citizenship.

According to#nbsp;lawyers and tax consultants interviewed by#nbsp;the news agency "Vedomosti", the Federal Tax Service (FTS) began to#nbsp;request the following information from citizens who own or#nbsp;potential owners of#nbsp;a#nbsp;residence permit (residence permit) or#nbsp;passport of#nbsp;a#nbsp;foreign state:

  • data of#nbsp;Russian and foreign passports;
  • information on#nbsp;the number of#nbsp;days spent outside the Russian Federation;
  • copies of#nbsp;documents of#nbsp;residence permit or#nbsp;citizenship of#nbsp;a#nbsp;foreign state;
  • account statements of#nbsp;foreign banks;
  • documents confirming the conduct of#nbsp;foreign currency transactions on#nbsp;foreign accounts.

According to#nbsp;the tax service, such information is#nbsp;collected in#nbsp;accordance with the requirements of#nbsp;the federal Law "On Currency Regulation and Currency Control", which allows checking compliance by#nbsp;residents and non-residents with the requirements of#nbsp;currency legislation.

We#nbsp;remind that the Federal Tax Service has received information about foreign accounts of#nbsp;Russians since 2018, however, due to#nbsp;the termination of#nbsp;the exchange of#nbsp;financial information with a#nbsp;number of#nbsp;countries, regulatory authorities began to#nbsp;request this information directly from citizens of#nbsp;the Russian Federation.
