The increased interest of the Federal Tax Service for dual citizenship of Russians

2024-01-10 11:59 Legal Digest News
The Federal Tax Service began to request additional information from Russians with dual citizenship.

According to lawyers and tax consultants interviewed by the news agency "Vedomosti", the Federal Tax Service (FTS) began to request the following information from citizens who own or potential owners of a residence permit (residence permit) or passport of a foreign state:

  • data of Russian and foreign passports;
  • information on the number of days spent outside the Russian Federation;
  • copies of documents of residence permit or citizenship of a foreign state;
  • account statements of foreign banks;
  • documents confirming the conduct of foreign currency transactions on foreign accounts.

According to the tax service, such information is collected in accordance with the requirements of the federal Law "On Currency Regulation and Currency Control", which allows checking compliance by residents and non-residents with the requirements of currency legislation.

We remind that the Federal Tax Service has received information about foreign accounts of Russians since 2018, however, due to the termination of the exchange of financial information with a number of countries, regulatory authorities began to request this information directly from citizens of the Russian Federation.
